Welcome Home

Wherever you live today, if you bear the name Montgommery or Montgomery, your family's story began here — nearly one thousand years ago.

Return to Your Origins

More than one thousand years ago, in the small Norman village of Saint-Germain-de-Montgommery, was born Roger II de Montgommery — one of the closest companions and most trusted advisors of William the Conqueror. From this remarkable man grew a family whose descendants spread across Britain and, in time, the entire world.

Today, thousands of families proudly bear the Montgomery name. Yet few know where their extraordinary journey began. Our mission is to bring that story back to life — and to pass this heritage on to future generations.

The History

Roger II de Montgommery

By his courage, political intelligence, and unwavering loyalty, Roger II played an essential role in the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. His influence helped make the Montgommery family one of the most powerful in the Anglo-Norman nobility.

Over the centuries, his descendants established themselves across the British Isles and, in time, on every continent — as soldiers, explorers, scientists, entrepreneurs, statesmen, artists, teachers, farmers, and builders.

The Origins in Normandy

Where it all began

Normandy is one of the richest regions in Europe for history. It is here that William the Conqueror prepared the conquest of England — and here that Roger II de Montgommery grew up.

Saint-Germain-de-Montgommery lies in the green bocage of the Calvados, in the valley of the Vie. For descendants living in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or Australia, this small Norman village is the starting point of their family story.
